Barnsley Spirit Award

Last weekend our founder, Peter Robertshaw, was awarded the Barnsley Spirit Award for H.O.P.E. in Community’s outstanding contribution to our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was very much a surprise and we’re truly honoured to receive this award and want to thank all our volunteers for their contribution.

Our community is always our main focus and when COVID-19 hit us back in March we knew we had to pivot our services to continue to support all the people in our community. We did the following in response to the pandemic:

- Set up a listening service to help people with their mental health, who are feeling lonely and isolated.

- Changed our holiday programme to a virtual holiday programme.

- Set up a foodbank service.

We’re glad we were able to continue to support our community during these challenging times and we will continue to do this. Hearing from people who attended the holiday programme, listening service, and who used the foodbank service how we were able to help them and what a difference we made in their lives is amazing. That is what we do it for.

We’re always looking for new volunteers. Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity and would you like to join our wonderful team? Get in touch with us today: Contact admin@hopeincommunity.co.uk
