About our Listening Service

Loneliness is a problem that has increased tremendously during the Covid-19 pandemic all over the world, also here in the UK. Loneliness affects people from all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities and so on. Between 3 April and 3 May 5% of people in the UK, that is a staggering 2.6 million people, reported that they ‘often’ or ‘always’ felt lonely (Office for National Statistics).

We don’t sit still and are always looking for new ways in which we can support the local community. That’s why we set up a brand-new listening service this year. Life is challenging enough as it is but when the Covid-19 pandemic hit us it suddenly became a lot more challenging for many of us.

We set up our listening service to support you during the current pandemic. We offer a listening ear through phone calls, text messages, WhatsApp messaging calls, video calls, and Facebook messenger. Restrictions allowing, we also plan on setting up a peer support group. We find it important that you don’t go through challenging times alone.

Our listening service is a confidential service where we offer you support and can refer you to service when required. Whether you need to hear a friendly voice, see a friendly face, or just would like to talk to someone because you’re feeling lonely, we’re here for you. Simply having someone to talk to can make such a big difference.

Bethany is one of our listening service’s client and said the following about it:

"your service is currently helping me through a difficult time. Just having that someone to talk too when things are up in the air is life changing."
